Captain America: New World Order is the sequel to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and will be the first Captain America movie to star Anthony Mackie as the titular character. The film is set to release in theatres on May 3, 2024.
Set photos from the film have revealed returning characters, first looks at new characters, and hints at the sequel’s plot.
Returning characters include Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent, and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter / Agent 13.
New characters include Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas as Sabra, and Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns / Leader.

Plot hints from the set photos include Sam Wilson facing a new threat that could shake up the entire status quo of the MCU, Joaquin Torres taking on a more prominent role in the MCU, Isaiah Bradley playing a larger role in the MCU, Sabra being a new character who could be a villain or an ally, and Samuel Sterns / Leader being a major villain in the MCU.
Overall, Captain America: New World Order is shaping up to be a major chapter in Phase 5 of the MCU. The film is expected to be a thrilling and action-packed adventure that will test Sam Wilson as Captain America.

Tim Blake Nelson will be reprising his role as Dr. Samuel Sterns in Captain America: New World Order. In the comics, Sterns is transformed into the Leader, a super-genius with a vast intellect. It is unclear what Sterns will be up to in Captain America: New World Order, but he is sure to be a major threat to Sam Wilson as Captain America. I am looking forward to seeing what Tim Blake Nelson brings to the role of the Leader.
The funeral scene in the photos suggests that someone of great significance has passed away, but it is currently unknown who it is.
The set photos also reveal that Sam Wilson will become injured during the movie, and that he will wear a new Captain America suit that is a mix of his vibranium suit from the Wakandans and Steve Rogers’ Winter Soldier suit.
